Not My Typical Blog

I have been deeply saddened by the recent events in our country with rioting and looting. I can actually understand wanting to take down Confederate statues. After all, history is written by the winners. I also understand the reasons for peaceful marches to highlight social injustices. What I do not understand is the looting and burning of property by a fringe group.

This fringe group is out to destroy our history. History is not here for you and me to like or dislike. It is there for us to learn about and learn from. If it offends you or me, perhaps even better—because we are less likely to repeat it. It is not yours or mine to erase! The latter sentence about history was lifted from some of my readings, but the author was not named.

A famous philosopher, Cicero, stated, “Not to know what happened before you were born is to forever be a child.”

On the lighter side, I tried to tell everyone that we were going to get a rain yesterday because when I took Rebel out at 6:30 yesterday morning, I heard a raintree frog croaking. Well, we got an inch and a half of much needed rainfall around 7:00 PM. Take that you guys with your sophisticated meteorological Apps. By the way, he was croaking again this morning. I brought my umbrella to work.

I hope all of you have a great day today!
