Brrr, it is cold outside! I once was told not to knock the weather because without it, 90% of the population would not know how to start a conversation. However, I do believe that one of our Yankee guests left home to visit us without closing the door. We are staring at three days of much below normal temperatures.
Before anyone says anything, allow me to say the we Southerners have thinner blood than folks who live north of the Smith& Wesson line. I have decided not to let the weather drive me crazy since it’s only a short walk for me to get there on my own. I will freely admit that I am not envious of any of our full house of guests as they climb on our convertible jeeps to go hunting this morning. I know that they will have a great hunt, but I prefer a little warmer weather before I would be interested in hunting. I always thank God for our northern guests who do not seem to mind the cold weather at all. Maybe to them, it is a balmy day.
We are running wide open now, and available dates are becoming scarce. We have about six groups looking for a date. If they all called and took one of our dates, we would be completely sold out for the last half of season. Since we don’t hold dates for anyone, if you are still considering a hunting date with us this season, I would urge you to go ahead and call now.
Just a few random thoughts in closing for you to think about:
- I have to drive to Atlanta for a meeting soon. Why do they call it “rush hour traffic” when nothing is moving at all.
- This is related to number one above. I don’t always go the extra mile, but when I do it’s because I missed my exit.
I have concluded that Atlanta has the rudest drivers in the nation. If they see you with your blinker on and needing to get over for your exit, they will speed up to close the space in on you. Given a choice, I would much prefer to take my chances of hitting a deer down here than driving in Atlanta traffic which is a nightmare for me.
I hope that all of you are doing fine and are off to a good start on 2020!
