Hunting Guides

Expertise and a Supportive Hand
A familiar face, a friendly voice, and knowledge of who you’re hunting with goes a long way. We know this because we want those same things when we go on a trip. Many of our guides are life-long members of our staff; others are in the middle of establishing their career here. In either case, our hospitality staff and our guides are not contractors, but year-round employees. They aren’t bouncing from place to place, and they know our plantation like the back of their own hand. They are on our property every day, getting to know the sights, sounds, and smells so they can enhance your experience. Everything we do is focused on just that: a better hunt, which yields a better outcome and extraordinary memories.
Jerry Cooper
Jerry’s first hunting season was way back in 1981, a part-time job while he studied Wildlife & Forestry at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College. Going to full time after graduation in 1983, in addition to guide duties he worked the farm crew, conservation crew, and helped in the shop while also helping with dog training in the off season. He became Hunting Manager in 2000, responsible for training all hires and overseeing day-to-day hunts… something his 20 years of experience gives him great insight into.
Greg Hays
Greg started at Riverview in 1987 to run the Pro Shop and serve as a special liaison to VIP guests. His expertise with dogs eventually landed him the responsibility of training in all divisions, including the Pro Shop, farming, kennels, and conservation. He has been VP of operations since 2002, but recently has spent much of his time overseeing the farming operations due to the increased diversification of Riverview’s agricultural efforts. His love of the hunt, however, still means he assists with those operations by sometimes providing safety talks to hunting groups.
Andy Hay
Andy came to Riverview in September of 1998, guiding groups during the season and working on conservation efforts in the summer. He took over the predator control program in 2003, but in 2009 went back to school to earn his BS in Biology with a minor in Chemistry, bringing his expertise back to Riverview in 2012. In 2018, he took oversight of the cocker spaniel program and the running of the Pro Shop.
